In 2014 we released first version of mobile application allowing measurements of radio coverage and service quality of Mobile Networks Worldwide.
In 2014 users of RFBenchmark application conducted more than 200 000 Internet Speed Tests and collected 19 Millions of Signal Quality Results.
We would like to present short summary of 2014 results related to Mobile Networks Quality and drive some conclusions and predict Mobile Networks Quality Trend for 2015 and beyond.

Achieved results indicated clearly that majority of users had an access to latest mobile technologies 3G & LTE. In 2015 we predict higher share of 3G & 4G-LTE measurements among all conducted test due to higher saturation of latest terminals on the market (LTE) and intensive rollout of LTE technologies Worldwide.

Achieved Internet Speed Test results indicated clearly predominance of LTE technology against 3G – WCDMA (even with HSPA + enabled – 42 Mbps). Current LTE network deployments allows to achieve, in good radio conditions, Downlink Internet Speed ~ 150 Mbps (example: Average Movie ~ 600 MB can be downloaded in less than 30 seconds).
150 Mbps in Downlink is definitely not the last word of Telecommunication Industry. Quality of Service – Mobile Internet Speed Access with improve further in 2015 and beyond. New technologies like LTE Advanced (~ 220 Mbps), will become available in first commercial mobile networks in 2015. Further extensions of LTE standard can results in maximum speeds ~ 1 Gbps.
Within last 10 Year we are observing amazing change of offered Mobile Internet Quality of Service – starting from Mobile Internet Access Speed – 50kbps (GSM) -> 330kbps (3G R99) -> ~ 30 Mbps (HSPA+) and 150 Mbps (LTE).
LTE technology is more than 25 thousand faster comparing to first deployments of GSM Internet Access results.
