Notel Poland, the developer of the RFBenchmark application that measures signal strength and test mobile Internet speed, has launched the MaxTest.eu.
MaxTest.eu is a dedicated website to perform these measurements. Checking the quality and speed of the Internet do not require installation of additional applications. It can be done through the web browser only.
Global state of Internet speed in 2017
According to the Akamai report in the first quarter of 2017, the average Internet connection speed was about 7.2 Mbps (an increase of 15% year after year). South Korea is considered the leader in terms of the average speed of fixed Internet connections (about 28.6 Mbps). The next two podium places are European countries – Norway (23.5 Mbps) and Sweden (22.5 Mbps). It is worth to mention that Singapore had the highest connection speed of 184.5 Mbps in the first quarter.
New EU regulation
Based on the European Parliaments’ regulations, Internet access service providers must specify in the contracts the following data rates:
In fixed networks:
- usually available,
On mobile networks:
- estimated maximum.
These records help facilitate the verification of fulfilling obligations of each vendor. Any deviation of these obligations will be considered as improper performance of the contract and the regulator can terminate the operator.
The RFBenchmark application has so far been able to measure the quality and speed of mobile Internet. This was the first step towards achieving the goal of developing market of transparent telecommunication services. Now, it is the time for the next step – a tool to measure the Internet speed in fixed network.
MaxTest.eu is a simple and transparent solution. Only one click is sufficient to check the most important Internet parametres. The online service created by the developers of RFBenchmark verifies:
- ping (delay value of the smallest possible amount of data in milliseconds (ms) – the lower the value, the better the result)
- average download speed (refers to the amount of the data downloaded from the Internet in megabits per second (Mbps) – the higher the value, the better the result),
- average upload speed (refers to the amount of the data uploaded to the Internet in megabits per second (Mbps) – the higher the value, the better the result)
Providing true quality and speed information helps the consumer to choose the correct Internet service provider
